Expedited permitting encourages new businesses to relocate in Palm Beach County by assisting qualified building projects with a coordinated and fast-tracked permitting process.  Expedited permitting also helps existing local companies expand their operations.

Where is it Available?
Palm Beach County Planning Zoning and Building Department makes expedited permitting available to qualified businesses. In addition, these cities have adopted expedited permitting initiatives: Jupiter, Lake Park,Palm Beach Gardens, West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, Greenacres, Delray Beach, Boca Raton, Royal Palm Beach, Wellington, Mangonia Park and Lake Worth and unincorporated Palm Beach County areas.

Who Qualifies?
Expedited permitting language varies from city to city within Palm Beach County. Generally, expedited permitting guidelines are aimed at businesses that fall into certain targeted industry clusters; the business must demonstrate the capability to create a certain number of full-time positions within a timeframe and new employment positions shall be value-added employment based on the average salary paid by the employer; the business shall submit financial information to the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County to establish solvency and status as an ongoing business prior to acceptance into the program. Once the criteria are met, and a recommendation to expedite is made by the BDB, the County or municipality will designate a staff member to serve as the liaison to work with the applicant through the development application and permitting process.

Read About Our Success...

"PNC is building our city’s first free standing USGBC LEED green building, attempting to achieve a LEED Certified status when complete.  The Building and P&Z Divisions of Development, along with Jeff Livergood’s help from Engineering, allowed us to issue review the plans and issue the permit in just under two weeks.  This was clearly an ”expedited review process” in accordance with our new ordinance and all required review personnel pushed this project through our system.  Several phone calls were made to the architect and general contractor to request missing information so the approval occurred with the first submittal of plans."

Thanks to all who contributed to this “first” for our city.
